You got to be kidding me?!? That was one of many frustrated questions that I internally voiced as I first heard the news of the Sydney lockdown. After a term of what seemed like momentum in connected with students and staff in schools, I couldn’t help but feel some level of deflation as our plans for the term ahead were put on hold.
It’s then that I was encouraged through God's Word and His Spirit.
To learn to develop “Hope-filled Lament”. An attitude and approach that looks to acknowledge the reality of what is happening (rather than burying our head in the sand!) whilst also keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus who is our Hope.
As we wrestle with the uncertainty we are facing, may we be encouraged by the words of Paul in his letter to the church in Rome during a challenging time, "rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation and remain constant in prayer”.
