I HAVE A SECRET. I HATED PIANO LESSONS.
With a Malaysian Chinese heritage I was "tiger parented" and that generally means pressure to excel in maths and music. I dreaded those piano lessons at six years old which included learning things like "Edelweiss" from the Sound of Music in the "downstairs dungeon of my home". It almost turned off music completely but thanks to the discovery of guitar in my early twenties, a love for singing, songwriting and rapping was birthed.
I really love great melody and meaningful lyrics and I often say my style is "acoustic pop/hip hop" - which largely stems from the pop/R’n’B influences of the 90’s! I hope you find inspiration and encouragement from these originals.
