A CALL FOR WISDOM

Updated: May 18, 2020

Everywhere we turn, everywhere we look, everyone we talk to - the topic…Corona Virus.

One group I particularly feel for is the medical/health profession and the increasing pressure they are under.

While they have had to confront a rising numbers of COVID-19 cases, deaths and curveballs, I feel that maybe some of their biggest heartache has been watching society whip itself in a frenzy and plunge itself into fear created rabbit holes dug up by the “social media experts”. It’s times like this that particularly call for wisdom. To resist the temptation to blindly follow the herd and instead arm ourselves with the counsel of professional medical advice that has been developed over decades of training and practice.

I don’t think this is just about praying the situation away or telling people not to fear (though I understand the value of these responses). Perhaps this is a moment in our lives where we also need to train ourselves to stop and think before impulsively acting and humble ourselves to learn from others more knowledgeable than us.

I’m sure something we can all agree on as a response is to offer a big THANK YOU to the multitude of health professionals and workers in our local neighbourhoods and around the world who have been working tirelessly to care and guide us through this corona virus situation. Some we now know the names of, some we will never hear about.
